VISUAL MUSINGS: (non)Traditional Tablescapes

Thanksgiving is literally right around the corner, so if you haven’t yet considered this year’s table setting– consider this DS2 Living’s final warning call for Thursday’s big event.

I don’t know HOW many years I’ve thrown Halloween’s semi-squishy pumpkins on a pretty dish and called it a “centerpiece”, or dashed to the store last minute for a rustic-ish bundle of warm-tone flowers. Even when I *do* try an arrange my table ahead– I always fall back into my grandmother’s wheelhouse. I’ll awaken the ceramic turkey from it’s attic slumber and unfold the same festive tablecloth. I scatter faux leaves and maybe light a candle.

It looks like 2016’s table….
….and 2015’s….

well.

There’s nothing wrong with burlap table-runners and leaf-print napkins; but this year, I refuse to look like the cover of ANOTHER November issue of Southern Living.

This week, we’re taking a minute to fully explore a few nontraditional Thanksgiving tablescape inspirations– concepts which will not only wow the in-laws with your creative tact, but make 2017’s Thanksgiving photos stand out from the rest.
